Assumptions
- Car loan and private loan are annuity loans: the same payment every month at a fixed rate, compounded monthly (annual rate ÷ 12). Down payments and cash purchases are paid up front.
- Running costs are counted over the financing period: monthly costs every month, yearly costs prorated by month (amount × months ÷ 12), one-off costs once at the start. Every cost stays the same for the whole period.
- The vehicle tax estimate uses Transportstyrelsen's CO₂-based tax (malus) for cars first taxed from June 1, 2022, which applies for the first 3 years; after that the tax is usually lower. Hybrids are assumed to run on petrol — for a diesel hybrid, choose Diesel. Electric and hydrogen cars pay the base amount only; gas cars have no estimate.
- The car's value at the end — its resale value, or nothing if you hand back a leased car — is not deducted. Fuel, charging, parking, loan fees and lease mileage charges are not included.
- Amounts are in Swedish kronor (SEK), rounded to the nearest öre.
