Assumptions

  • Test fees, the photo and the license card are Trafikverket's and Transportstyrelsen's published prices, checked September 28, 2026. Applying for a learner's permit (körkortstillstånd) is free.
  • Test fees are weekday daytime prices. After 18:00 and at weekends the theory test costs 520 kr and the driving test 1,400 kr.
  • The car for the driving test defaults to Trafikverket's rental price; a driving school's car usually costs something else.
  • The vision test, Risk 1, Risk 2 and lessons are estimates of typical prices and vary by provider and city.
  • Each failed attempt means booking and paying for a new test (and car). The photo and license card are paid once.
  • Amounts are in Swedish kronor (SEK), rounded to the nearest öre.
